The Need
Headquartered in Evanston, Ill., NorthShore University HealthSystem, (NorthShore), is a comprehensive, fully integrated, healthcare delivery system that serves the greater North Shore and northern Illinois communities. As a progressive hospital, NorthShore offers up-to-date and relevant information to patients via their web site. NorthShore chose to migrate from another content management system to EPiServer CMS 6, which would allow for greater flexibility in managing their website.
In addition, NorthShore chose to launch two new site features with the move to EPiServer. The first feature included a custom built community section with forums and blogs for registered patients to communicate and share their experiences. The second feature included a redesign of clinical service and conditions pages throughout the site to make the patient experience more interactive and intuitive.
The Solution
To extract the content and properties from NorthShore's previous CMS, Adage built a custom exporting tool to pull data from the CMS and then merge it within the EPiServer content management system. A custom redirects manager was also put into place to redirect hardcoded links within the former CMS content blocks.
The migration to EPiServer drastically increased overall site speed, both on the public and admin side. Custom workflows were put into place to adhere to client business standards and the new menu structure and custom templates creation allows for easy content management. With the move to EPiServer, NorthShore successfully launched the new community and the clinical service and condition sections of their website.
