The Need
Bauer Risk Management determined the need to revise their previous case management system (Chameleon I). Built using VB Script and SQL Server 7.0, the system did not encompass R. Bauer's entire workflow and processes. Critical components were missing from the system including an interface with both clients for case intake and investigators requiring the ability to review and act on assigned cases.
The Solution
R. Bauer selected Adage to completely rebuild Chameleon II using Microsoft's .NET framework. The system was re-designed to encompass R. Bauer's entire workflow process from case intake to final approval and completion of investigator reports. The project required a complete revision of the Chameleon I data model and migration of previous case data into the new system.
Throughout the case process (intake, assignment, review, and completion) the appropriate employees are notified of status changes in a case that affects them. Additionally, all data regarding a case and a subject are now stored digitally online including background checks, photos, video, and location maps.
The Chameleon System II is 100 percent web-based and is comprised of three areas: public/client, agent portal, and administrative portal. These sections are described below:
Public/Client:
The public web site is designed to quickly provide information about R. Bauer and Associates to current and potential customers. Current customers visit the site to access the Chameleon II system. Upon login, a customer can assign a new case, check the status of an assignment, view completed reports, and view invoices.
Agent:
Upon logging into the secure agent portal, the employee is greeted with a company notice screen that is content managed by administrative personnel. From here the agent can choose to view their assignments, update the status of an assignment, edit and submit a completed case report, view payouts, submit expenses, and view their assignments in a calendar view. Additionally, a resources page provides valuable links to investigation tools and web sites.
Admin:
The most feature rich portion of the application, the administrative portal, provides control over the Chameleon II application. User security provides the ability to limit end-user activity within the application. With full admin access, a user can search for assignments by agent, status, client, or date range. Upon finding the desired assignment, the assignment can be reviewed, returned for corrections, edited, and/or submitted for billing.
Other sections within the admin section include the ability to edit staff, edit customers, schedule assignments, change system settings, invoice, and run reports.
