Dramatically Improved User Experience Through Full Site Redesign

SFJAZZ is the world’s leading cultural institution devoted to jazz and related forms of music, presenting over 300 performances each year at the SFJAZZ Center and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Problem

SFJAZZ was seeking a web design and development partner to complete a redesign and build out of a robust, mobile-centric new website. Strategic goals were established to include improved user experience and design that accurately reflects the SFJAZZ brand.

SFJAZZ engaged with Adage to establish a modern marketing platform that’s on par with its word-class, award-winning venue architecture and to move the organization to an agile mindset that better matches the collaborative spirit of jazz.

Brand Strategy

The project began with a discovery process called Adage Align. Adage Align establishes a shared vision among stakeholders across the organization. Marketing, operations, technology, box office, and development all took an active role in providing guidance and feedback.

The engagement resulted in SFJAZZ’s unified organizing idea of OPEN (Welcome Everyone), CURATE (Strengthen Bonds), and ENGAGE (Inspire).

Easy-to-Edit Content Management System

Adage recommended Optimizely CMS for SFJAZZ to control site content and features. Optimizely is a proven content management system that provides a high-quality solution including the ability to add, edit, and delete content with ease, create new product offerings for sale, conduct A/B testing, and more.

Optimizely and Adage set SFJAZZ up for success. They were easily able to build a blog on their own with templates and blocks from Optimizely built by Adage.

Select-Your-Own-Seat on Any Device

SFJAZZ upgraded to SmartSeat by Adage, a truly mobile select-your-own-seat platform. With SmartSeat, SFJAZZ can easily build true-to-life venue and seat maps, configure branded design elements and provide an unrivaled user experience on any device.

SFJAZZ now has the ability to accurately showcase the non-traditional layout of their main venue, helping patrons easily select the best seats for any performance.

Complex Ecommerce

Adage implemented ACE Commerce for SFJAZZ to handle their complex ecommerce needs. ACE Commerce allows SFJAZZ to provide a wide variety of subscription packages and renewals.

Adage also provided SFJAZZ the ability to implement customizable functionality based on different constituency levels and multiple ticketing options like print-at-home and digital barcodes.
