The Need

Avaya, a leading provider of communications systems, needed a way to process infrastructure change requests from over 500 locations nationwide. Requests included everything from moving the LAN/WAN/Voice infrastructure for an entire location, to rewiring a location, to installing a new PBX for a growing location.

The Solution

Avaya selected Adage to create an application that would not only process requests from the field but would also capture information about valuable equipment and telecommunications services from each location. First, an end-user initiates a request via a simple three-step web based form. Next, a Project Manager from the Infrastructure Team receives the request and begins to assign required resources. As each resource is assigned to the request, an email notification is sent out to the appropriate engineer or contact. End users, project managers, and engineers all utilize the tool via a web interface to check status on, update and complete project tasks. Finally, all information discovered or known about a location's infrastructure (including requests) is captured in the location maintenance section of the tool providing a valuable repository of information about Avaya's communication infrastructure.
